Dr Soong-Yuan Ooi

Dr Soong-Yuan Ooi is an Australian trained Gastroenterologist with a sub-specialty interest in Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Based at Holy Spirit Northside and North West Private Hospitals, he provides consultation services in general gastroenterology with a keen interest in IBD, together with endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures including bowel cancer screening.

Based at RBWH

Soong-Yuan Ooi also provides his services in IBD to the Metro North health services of Queensland Health, based at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, North Lakes Health Precinct, Caboolture Base Hospital and Redcliffe Hospital.

History

Soong-Yuan Ooi completed his undergraduate medical degree at the University of Adelaide in 2003 (MBBS) before undertaking his internship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Following this, he completed basic physician training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in 2009 before progressing to Advanced Gastroenterology training. Having gained experience in general gastroenterology, liver diseases, IBD and endoscopic procedural skills at the Gold Coast University and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Soong-Yuan was awarded his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2012. During this time he also completed a Graduate Certificate in Health Sciences with a focus on Clinical Education (GCHlthSci).
