Soong-Yuan Ooi completed his undergraduate medical degree at the University of Adelaide in 2003 (MBBS) before undertaking his internship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Following this, he completed basic physician training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in 2009 before progressing to Advanced Gastroenterology training. Having gained experience in general gastroenterology, liver diseases, IBD and endoscopic procedural skills at the Gold Coast University and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Soong-Yuan was awarded his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2012. During this time he also completed a Graduate Certificate in Health Sciences with a focus on Clinical Education (GCHlthSci).
Upon returning to Brisbane in 2015, Dr Soong-Yuan Ooi has provided his Specialist services in IBD to the Metro North health services of Queensland Health, based at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and the North Lakes Health Precinct. However he has devoted his time to the development of his private practice during this time culminating in the establishment of Gastrointestinal Specialists Brisbane (GISB) with Dr Jason Huang. GISB provides patients with all aspects of care in Gastroenterology, across three sites on Brisbane’s north side.
